The Trade-Related Assistance Center (TRAC) at the American Chamber is offering performance-based Trade Certification scholarships to fresh graduates. The Trade-Related Assistance Center, a USAID funded project is extending these scholarships as part of its strategy of enhancing Egypt’s trade relations in the context of the emerging global market. The Certification and training components of this project targets equipping market players and the private sector in Egypt with the necessary international skills and capacities to embark into more viable and lucrative global trade relations. The International Trade Certification is offered by the Import and Export Institute University in Washington , USA. The American University in Cairo (AUC) has exclusivity in offering the Trade Certification Program in Egypt, accordingly TRAC will cooperate with AUC to provide the selected candiates with the Certification program that prepares them to take the International Certification Exam. The Trade Certification Program starts on January 6th, 2008. The certification exam will be offered and corrected by Import and Export Institute, Washington,USA at the premises of the American University in Cairo.

Qualifications/requirements for Scholarships:
- Holder of a Bachelor of Arts or Science preferably English section (or equivelant) with a GPA of at least 3.0 or Good.
- Graduates of the years 2003- 2007.
- Fluent in spoken and written English language
- Willing to dedicate time, effort and commitment to this program
- No work Experience is required.
Terms of the Scholarship:
- Applications will undergo a first screening to select the applicants that fit the mentioned above requirements.
- Selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview with the selection committee.
- Applicants selected in the interview need to pass an English test.
- The American Chamber of Commerce will cover 50% of the tuition fees of selected candidates (total cost 1920 L.E.). If the selected students conform with the attendance and preformance regulations of the program ( attendance of up-to 80 % of the sessions and average score of at least “good”or B on all in-class tests and quizzes) the Chamber will reimburse them the remaining 50% of the tuition fees by the end of the semester and will cover the cost of their registration/enrollement in the International Trade Certification Exam offered by Import and Export Institute in the United States total $120 each student ($45 registration + $75 exam).
- Candidates for whom the Chamber will bear 100 % of the tuition fees and the Exam registration fees will sign a note declaring that they will reimburse the Chamber with the cost of registration in the International Exam, only if they do not show-up for the exam or they will be required to deposit a cheque in the chamber with this cost, this cheque will only be cashed if they do not take the final exam.
- Students that pass the International Trade Certification Exam will also be placed as interns in reputable international trade companies members of the American Chamber of Commerce( If they wish).
